Consulting for Foundations on Grants

FOUNDATIONS and EDUC8FIT CONSULTING

Jim Houser, principal at Educ8Fit Consulting, has substantial work experience with overseeing grant programs.  In the Office of the Secretary at the U.S. Department of Education, Jim Houser oversaw the distribution of $2 billion in discretionary grant funds annually to colleges and universities.  He also served as the lead career analyst in the Office of the Secretary with responsibility for higher education and financial management of the Department.

Jim Houser has substantial experience creating and managing large Federal grant programs and can translate that experience to assist foundations.  He launched the School Renovation, Credit Enhancement for Charter School Facilities, and State Charter School Facility Incentive Grant Programs.  Under his leadership, the Credit Enhancement for Charter School Facilities provided a credit backstop to $1 billion in loans for charter school facilities.  He created program descriptions for these programs, wrote program guidance and regulations, developed and managed grant competitions, developed both performance agreements and performance reports, designed site visit protocols, trained staff, and conducted site visits.  Jim Houser is available to assist foundations with their grant programs in areas that include:

  • Program development

  • Proposal reviews

  • Performance agreements

  • Performance report development and review

  • Site visit protocol development and site visits

  • Organizing substantive presentations for conferences
